Economy

Austria is the second-largest investor in the EU member state Romania with a volume of over 10 billion euros. This commitment has created over 100,000 jobs in more than 1,500 companies.
Romania is sustainably growing above the EU average, making it an attractive investment location with high return possibilities in the coming years.
The profitability of investments is also enhanced by the flat tax in place since 2005. Profits and income are subject to a low tax rate of 16%.
Highly motivated and well-educated workforce and academics contribute to a remarkably high level in the labor market.

Language and Religion

The official language is Romanian, a language of Latin origin. English, French, and German are spoken by numerous residents.
The majority of Romanians are Orthodox Christians (87%). An important minority consists of Greek and Roman Rite Catholics. Religious freedom is guaranteed by the Constitution of Romania.
